"Breaking up with him wasn't easy. It brought in a rush of emotions; heartache, anger, love, sadness; all the memories that we shared came flowing back one after another. Knowing that we will no longer go on this journey of life together anymore broke me into pieces. It shattered my whole being; as if i was made out of nothing but glass...

In that moment of sadness, i was lost; not knowing how to react; not knowing how to move on...

Do i speak to someone about it? Do i just keep it to myself? Should i pour my feelings out to the next person that ask me if i'm doing okay? Should i stay strong and not trouble them with my emotions? How do you deal with these things? How should i deal with it?

I used to think that i was alone; that this was the most lonely period in my life. With no one to talk to, no one to share my feelings with. Consumed by these emotions and overwhelmed by the situation, it was hard to see what was happening around me. Though it seemed like the world was against me, but suddenly, something began to dawn on me; something peculiar; it was love...

All this while, if someone were to ask whether or not i'm doing okay, i used to say "yea, im okay," even though i wasn't, just because i didn't want to bother them with my problems, cause i feel that our problems is ours to deal with...

What i didn't realize was that by closing myself out from the rest of the world, i was shutting out all those who cared about me; all those that wanted me back on my feet. My life was surrounded with people that loved me; people that were genuinely worried for me, and there i was not letting them be the blessing that they are...

Drowning myself in sorrows and memories kept me from seeing the beauty of my family and friends; the beauty of the human heart. It was in that moment that i realised that it's okay to be sad.

My message to you is, don't be afraid to show others your vulnerability. Don't be afraid to show others that you are hurting because knowing what i know now, sadness is a part of life. Being sad does not make you weak. It teaches us to be strong. It teaches us the valuable lessons that we need to learn to navigate our lives with a better sense of direction.

It teaches us to make better choices life; to be tough. I used to think that by showing others i was fine, it would be the best way to forget about my broken relationship and move forward; but i was wrong. In fact, this couldn't be further from the truth, because moving on means take a step in the right direction; and taking a step in the right direction means facing your fears, your pain and your sorrows...

Taking a step in the right direction means making peace with everything that has been blocking your way; realizing that the only way to move forward is to look backwards, and to say goodbye.

Taking a step in the right direction means opening up your heart to all those who care for you; because your support system is your greatest strength in life. So trust them, love them and treasure them; let them into you life and I promise you, that it will be the best decision you'll ever make...

Sometimes, all we need is to allow ourselves to be sad, so that we can move forward; so stay strong, have faith and let it go; because it really is okay, not to be okay..."
