Ancient legend tells a tale of a girl Amethyst who wrongly crossed the path of the God of Intoxication, Dionysus, who swore he would kill the next person that crossed his path after he got offended by a mortal. When he attempted to kill her, Amethyst cried out to the goddess Diana who answered and turned her into an eternal white crystal to avoid the wrath of Dionysus. Realizing his mistake, Dionysus repented by offering what he valued most, red wine, by pouring it over the crystal as an offering to her pure soul which legend says gave Amethyst it's alluring purplish tone that manifested abundantly through the Earth.

No matter what the legend says, one thing is for sure, that this stone is a powerful stone of passion and is known to strengthen our alignment spiritually with our crown chakra; the only chakra that cannot be activated through the use of items.
