Fire agate was first discovered in certain areas of central and northern Mexico and the southwestern United States ( new mexico ,Arizona,California ). Approximately 24-36 million years ago these areas were subjected to massive volcanic activity during the tertiary period. The fire agates were formed during this period of volcanism when hot water, saturated with silica and iron oxide repeatedly filled cracks and bubbles in the surrounding rock.
What sets a Fire agate apart from the other agates is the beautiful iridescent rainbow colors caused by the alternating silica and iron oxide which allows light to pass and form an interference of color within the layering of the stone; thus causing a fiery effect within the stone.

Wisdom From This Stone :
"To fully understand this stone, we need to first understand the gift of fire. To many of us, fire is the element that brings warmth, passion, drive and motivation; yet what we often miss is that Fire also represents destruction.
It symbolizes the alpha and the omega; the beginning and the end. The chaos in the calm and the calm in the chaos. The death and birth of something new; the desolation and creation. In other words, it is only in the wake of destruction, that we are able to give birth to something new.
When we call upon the energy of fire, we are also calling upon the destruction of ourselves. The destruction of the inessential; the mask, the chains and the fears that has been dominating our souls...
We are calling upon the wrath of nature, to destroy all that we've created; all that we are, in order to give birth to something greater...
To put it in simple terms, in order for us to find our balance and greatness, we must destroy the unnecessary structures and habits that no longer serves our higher purpose.
Having a fire agate in our lives brings about the manifestation of Divine Guidance in our actions; assisting us in taking decisive actions despite unclear circumstances.
It helps us recognize the 'Truths' in our habits while bringing about the necessary destruction in our lives. Though the process of letting go parts of ourselves can be a scary journey, it begins with a simple step of 'Forgiveness'...for ourselves...
Through Forgiveness, we begin the journey of healing through reflection, acceptance, reconciliation and creation; giving birth to our best-self yet.
This stone is also known to aid in creative blocks, awakening our imagination to give us ideas, perspectives and unique solutions for our challenges.
It is also a highly Grounding stone which keeps us rooted to the Earth while giving us a sense of stability in our life.
Wearing a fire agate can also stimulate the sexual and physical energies in us; increasing stamina and circulation which is helpful is treating sexual imbalances including impotence.
Above all, using a fire agate not only brings about strength, courage, balance, Forgiveness, drive and vitality, but it will help drag you out from the mess that you currently find yourself in, while teaching you to be 'Comfortable in the uncomfortable'.
The trick to working with his stone is to keep calm during the 'process of transition' and allow destruction to work its magic. Keep a non judgement mindset of 'Let's see' in whichever situation you find yourself in; which means, if something bad happens, say to yourself 'let's see' ; and if something good happens, say to yourself 'Let's see...'
This stone will bring to light all that you may have suppressed while bringing about the death of 'You'; because it is in death that we can be risen; and like the Phoenix that burns and rises from the ashes, it is often the deepest pains in life that empowers you to rise into your highest self..."
Connecting to this stone during meditation ignites the sexual energies in your body; turning them into a powerful source of creativity. It protects you from low vibrational thoughts and emotions, while bringing in a sense of optimism, joy, excitement and bliss.
Keeping this stone close or on you during meditation brings concentration, focus and relaxation; thus making it easier for one to achieve a heightened state of awareness.
